The implant is the part of the cochlear implant system that needs to be surgically implanted under the skin. It consists of a coil, a receiving stimulator, wires and an electrode array. The coil receives the encoded acoustic signal transmitted by the speech processor, and the receiving stimulator decodes the signal and converts it into electrical signal, which is then transmitted to the electrode array through the wire, and finally stimulates the spiral ganglion cells of the cochlea.
