The target group is patients with blindness caused by retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration.
The artificial retina consists of a video collector, a video processor and an implant. The video collector and processor are the external parts of the system. The video collector collects environmental images and transmits them to the video processor for analysis and processing, generates retinal electrical stimulation codes, and sends them to the implanted human body in the form of radio frequency signals. An implant on the retina of the eye; after the implant chip decodes the stimulation code, it stimulates the remaining optic nerve on the blind retina through a two-dimensional implant electrode array, thereby producing light perception. At the same time, the video processor monitors its working status and battery usage in real time.
Compact, portable and low power consumption. Grayscale processing and noise reduction methods are used to ensure that the processed stimulus encoding is not affected by lighting.
