From February 21 to 23, 2024, the Beijing-Zhejiang Temporal Bone Anatomy Training Course of the Artificial Hearing Branch of the CHINA INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE AND PROMOTIVE ASSOCIATION FOR MEDICAL AND HEALTH CARE was successfully held at the Nurotron Cochlear Implant Industrial Base.
This event was hosted by the Artificial Hearing Branch of the CHINA INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE AND PROMOTIVE ASSOCIATION FOR MEDICAL AND HEALTH CARE and undertaken by Nurotron. Bringing together experts in the fields of otology and hearing rehabilitation at home and abroad, Dr. Pu DAI and his team were the main speakers. The training content covered a wide range of cutting-edge theories of otology, basic knowledge of audiology related to cochlear implants, the latest technical features and applications of cochlear implant products, temporal bone anatomy and otology surgical operation skills, etc.
Thematic Lectures
The training course kicked off with the wonderful opening speeches of Dr. Pu DAI and Mr. Chu LI, CEO of Nurotron. They warmly welcomed otologists from all over the country to Nurotron to participate in this double feast of academic and technical achievements.

Dr. Pu DAI
Dr. Pu DAI brought a special course “Otological Surgery Demonstration under 4K-3D External Surgery System”, and talked about the advantages of 4K-3D external surgery system in otorhinolaryngology. This technology can magnify the details of the surgical area dozens of times through high-definition stereoscopic images and real-time transmission functions, clearly displaying the complex otological anatomical structure, helping students to better understand the key operations in the operation during the observation process and improve their own surgical skills.

Surgery Practice
During the two-day surgical practice demonstration and training, Dr. Pu DAI and his team’s two instructors Bo Gao and Chaoyue ZHAO jointly demonstrated and explained the key points of temporal nerve anatomy, cochlear second-order implantation, cochlear implant surgery, etc. to the on-site students.

The whole operation was recorded and played by the 4K-3D external surgery system. The operation screen was shared in real time on the large screen, and all trainees had the same stereoscopic vision as the surgeon. The successful application of this technology in this training class not only improved the interactivity of teaching, but also avoided the inconvenience of students observing through a microscope, improved the fluency of teaching, and the high-definition images and 3D visualization technology also made depth perception more intuitive. Trainees said that this was an “immersive learning experience.”
Base Visit
During the interval between courses in this training, experts and trainees also visited the Nurotron exhibition hall, production workshop, and reliability laboratory, and gained an in-depth understanding of Nurotron’s cochlear implant technology principles and product system.
Mr. Chu LI and Dr. Pu DAI
Through the introduction of Mr. Chu LI, CEO of Nurotron, experts and trainees gained an in-depth understanding of the development of cochlear implant technology in China. They recognized the convenience of Nurotron’s latest generation CS-30A implants with thin electrodes in surgery, and the three optional lengths that can greatly improve the universal applicability in surgery. They also discussed and exchanged views on Nurotron’s artificial retina technology that has entered the clinical stage.
Afterwards, they observed the entire process of cochlear implant manufacturing in the production workshop, learned about the production process of thin and soft electrodes that have obvious advantages in the electrode trial insertion process, and had a more intuitive understanding of the fineness of electrode production. They also observed the manufacturing process and product technology of cochlear implants, and through reliability tests such as bending, impact, and aging, they actually understood the specific effects of Nurotron implants in terms of waterproof and gas leakage prevention, impact prevention, and anti-coil bending, and further realized the reliability of Nurotron implants in long-term stable operation in the human body.
The successful holding of this training course not only improved the professional skills and practical operation capabilities of otolaryngologists, but also promoted the sharing of medical resources and the balanced development of medical technology. As a cochlear implant manufacturer, Nurotron will always actively promote exchanges and collaborations at the forefront of otolaryngology, create a better platform for doctors and scholars at home and abroad, and jointly write a new chapter in the cause of artificial hearing implants.
