Product Details

Overview

CS-10A is the first cochlear implant Nurotron introduced. It is designed by Prof. Fangang Zeng, the world’s top cochlear implant expert. CS-10A offers 3 lengths of thin electrode arrays (TS, TM, TL) and 1 length of the standard electrode array (SD), ensuring a tailored fit for individuals with diverse cochlear structures. It also has a removable magnet for different levels of MRI scans.

Features

Industry-leading 24-channel electrode to help users get the closest-to-natural hearing

Nurotron invented the revolutionary 24+2 electrode channel technology for use in implants. Our implant has two types of electrodes, standard electrode array and thin electrode. The standard electrode has one length (22mm); the thin electrode comes in three lengths—17.5mm, 22mm, and 25.5mm—with an apical end measuring 0.3mm.

Theoretically, more channels provide more precise stimulation, resulting in a more natural and nuanced sound. With 24 active electrodes, CI users achieve better performance in word and sentence recognition. Our implants also support bilateral implantation, offering a more symmetrical and complete hearing experience.

The CS-10A was the first to introduce the design of platinum-sample 24-channel electrodes + 2 extra-cochlear electrodes. Except for the TS electrode, which has 22 channels, the other electrodes have 24 channels.

This technology has been upgraded and continued in the subsequent CS-20A and CS-30A implants, bringing users a more natural hearing experience.

Soft electrode array to protect residual hearing

The soft electrode adapts smoothly to the shape of the cochlea during implantation, allowing for more precise placement. The central electrode lead design helps surgeons easily position the implant, minimizing overall thickness and bone drill depth, thus reducing surgical trauma. Its symmetrical lead exit design reduces the damage to the fine structure of the cochlea, preserving the residual hearing of the recipient.

The tip of the thin electrode array is 0.3mm. This way, the implant is moderately soft and hard and is indicated for round window, extended round window, and cochleostomy surgical approaches.

Reliable, bio-compatible, titanium implant casing

The raw materials of the implants are sourced entirely from the United States and comply with FDA standards. They feature reliable, bio-compatible titanium implant casings that reduce the risk of infection.

Nurotron’s implants can withstand external impacts of up to 2.5 joules, and their helium leakage standards are 50 times stricter than international regulations.

This way, we ensure greater safety and durability for the CI users, providing peace of mind and enhancing the overall performance of the implants.

Advanced microchip design

This is designed for different stimulation modes and more effective neural response measurement. The implant offers monopolar, bipolar, or common ground stimulation modes with flexible programming options, ensuring more effective neural response measurements.

Removable magnet for MRI

It is compatible with different levels of MRI scans, to ensure the best imaging outcome.

Optimized for Functional Auditory Testing

The implant supports telemetry functions including NRM, ESRT, ABR, CEP, and intraoperative NRM. It helps health professionals keep a close eye on how the patient’s hearing system is performing, both during and after surgery.

More about CS-10A--Ideal for Bilateral Cochlear Implantation

For patients with severe to profound hearing loss in both ears, or those who still experience challenges after unilateral implantation, the CS-10A supports bilateral cochlear implantation, significantly enhancing auditory performance. The main benefits of bilateral implantation include:

  1. Improved sound localization in noisy environments: With two cochlear implants working together, patients can better identify the direction of sounds, making it easier to navigate noisy surroundings.
  2. Enhanced language development and learning for children: Bilateral cochlear implants help children improve their speech understanding and academic performance, supporting their overall development.
  3. Reduced listening effort: Bilateral hearing reduces the strain of relying on just one ear, making listening more natural and comfortable, which improves hearing quality in daily life.

However, the decision between unilateral or bilateral implantation should be made based on the specific needs and medical evaluation of each patient.
